Alan Ritchson has held talks with DC cinematic universe co-leader Peter Safran to discuss collaborating on a future superhero feature film.
Safran confirmed that he and the Reacher star discussed working together on an upcoming motion picture within the comic book franchise.
According to Safran, Ritchson possesses far more talent and dramatic depth than many people have had the chance to see. Safran stressed that the actor has not yet fully revealed his abilities to audiences. He added that he believes Ritchson has much greater depth than viewers might have noticed, explaining that the performer is capable of more that the public has not yet witnessed.
Superhero casting rumors
The discussions follow previous reports that Ritchson could join the DC cinematic universe. Similar rumors have also circulated regarding a possible collaboration with Disney inside the rival Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Ritchson achieved global fame as the title character in the Amazon Prime Video action series Reacher. Adapted from the bestselling thriller novels by British author Lee Child, the television show follows former military investigator Jack Reacher as he travels across the United States solving crimes and battling corruption. The leading role established Ritchson as one of the most recognizable action performers in modern television.
DC Studios and Warner Bros plans
Safran serves as co-chairman and co-chief executive officer of DC Studios, the production banner established by Warner Bros. Discovery to oversee film, television and animation projects adapted from DC Comics. Along with writer and director James Gunn, Safran leads the creative direction of a newly unified DC Universe designed to replace the earlier extended franchise.
The rival Marvel Cinematic Universe, produced by Marvel Studios under Disney, similarly develops interconnected comic book films for global cinema audiences. Those earlier rumors had connected Ritchson to both studios, but Safran confirmed that discussions about a future film did take place with DC leadership.
