Emirati low-cost carrier Air Arabia plans to resume direct passenger flights between Sharjah and Moscow in October, according to details released by the Russian Transport Ministry.
Russian state news agency RIA Novosti reported that the airline intends to restart regular scheduled flights along the route. Preliminary data indicates the carrier had suspended its services to Russia in July due to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.
The planned return comes after recent uncertainty regarding the airline's autumn schedule. Tour operators and travel agents previously reported booking cancellations for Air Arabia flights scheduled in both October and December, though passengers did not receive official notification from the carrier itself.
Sharjah to Moscow aviation route
Air Arabia is a major low-cost airline headquartered in Sharjah, the third most populous city in the United Arab Emirates. Established in 2003 as the first budget carrier in the Middle East, the airline operates scheduled flights to more than 170 destinations across the Middle East, North Africa, Asia, and Europe from its primary hub at Sharjah International Airport.
Moscow, the capital and largest city of Russia, is served by major international airports including Sheremetyevo, Domodedovo, and Vnukovo. Flight connections through the Gulf region have become key transport links for travelers traveling between Russia, the Middle East, and broader international destinations.
Russian Transport Ministry oversight
The Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation is the federal executive body responsible for developing state policy and civil aviation regulations. The ministry regulates foreign airline access to Russian airspace and coordinates international flight authorizations with foreign civil aviation authorities.
Travel agencies and prospective passengers are now waiting for official booking systems to reopen ahead of the scheduled October resumption. The airline has not yet issued further public statements regarding revised flight frequencies or ticket sales for the route.
