EXCLUSIVE: Actor and online influencer Alexis Ren has signed on for the lead role latencyAn action thriller for gamers written and directed by James Croke.
Ren joins forces with Russian model and actor Sasha Luss (ann) in the film which follows Hana, a professional gamer who suffers from acute agoraphobia. When Hana receives a new game controller that interprets her brain activity, she experiments with this new device with the help of her best friend Jen, only to soon find out that the device is actually controlling her.
The production of the film is currently scheduled to begin on November 21st in Bangkok. Producers include Scott Clayton, Wych Kaosayananda, Gary A. Hirsch and Jordan Gertner, best known for producing films such as Vincent Gallos buffalo 66Larry Clarks bullyingand school holiday goers Harmony Korine directed it.
Red Sea Media brought the film to international buyers at the recent US Film Market. Croke is directing from a script he also wrote. The Australian filmmaker has worked in the Australian film and television industry as a production designer and art director. He wrote, directed and designed the short film alterwhich won the Australian Production Design Guild Award for Short Film Design in 2014.
“When James Croke told me that he described my character Jen as ‘the heart of the film,’ I was honored to be able to bring that energy to life,” said Ren. “My favorite aspect of this industry is the community, so I’m really looking forward to working with James Croke and Jordan Gertner latency. I look forward to bringing Jen to life and giving her the performance she deserves.”
Gertner added: “We are very excited to be working with Alexis. Her talent and passion for this project will surely translate into a great performance in bringing Jen’s character to life latency.”
Ren’s most recent acting credit is the noir thriller The actor, where she appears alongside Zolee Griggs, Antonio Banderas, Kate Bosworth and 2 Chainz. Ren has also completed production on a female drama thriller. Second chancein which she will star alongside Denise Richards and AnnaLynne McCord.
She is represented by Kris Heller at the APA Agency.
