It feels like an intense thriller that tells a fascinating story involving serious social problems. The Spanish horror film comes from the writer and director Carlotta Pereda and this is the synopsis:
With the summer sun beating down on her Spanish country town, Sara hides in her parents’ butcher’s shop. A teenager whose excess weight makes her the target of incessant bullying, escapes a clique of capricious girls who torment her in the city pool, only to stumble upon their brutal abduction by a stranger, who goes with them to the his van. When the police start asking questions, Sara is silent. Intrigued by the unknown – a mutual interest – she is torn between revealing the truth and the protection of the man who saved her.
Piggy premiered at the Sundance Film Festival last year and Magnet Releasing will release it on October 14, 2022.
