A new superhero will take over the world this summer. That hero is Jamie Reyes/Blue Beetle, and it’s played by him cobra Kai star Xolo Mariduena in the upcoming DC superhero film. Jamie Reyes is a Mexican-American teenager who gains superpowers after an alien beetle infiltrates him. Blue beetle is making history as the first film in the DC universe to feature a Latino lead. The first trailer released on April 3 shows that 21-year-old Xolo fits perfectly into the role of Jamie Reyes.

In the trailer, Jamie Reyes encounters an alien beetle that transforms him into the Blue Beetle with an epic costume. Jamie must learn to control his powers and suit him when he discovers that the scarab is “some kind of weapon that destroys the world”. An evil character named Victoria Kord tells Jamie “the cockroach chose you, but it belongs to me”. Jamie’s family, which includes his father Alberto and mother Rocío, is in danger and only Jamie can save them.

Xolo Mariduena plays the titular hero in Blue beetle. Xolo is best known for playing Miguel Díaz in cobra Kai. He is the first Latino actor to star in a DC superhero film. Xolo is of Mexican, Cuban and Ecuadorian descent.

Oscar winner susan sarandon Victoria Kord is playing. Sharon Stone he was initially in talks to play that role. In the comics, Victoria is the sister of Ted Kord, who was the Blue Beetle before Jamie. The trailer hints that Victoria will be the film’s villain.

Xolo explained, “We see some of these other superheroes, who can hide from their family that they are superheroes. But [Jamie’s] the family is there with him in this first transformation. Going through that journey together is something we’ve never seen in superhero movies, and it’s at the heart of this movie.”
